“But either way, it’s us, it's not the resources that are making the difference and that is something that the mindset of the parent, child, the teacher, all of that needs to change simultaneously. It's not a one-person targeted approach. “
Ms. Juthika Mehta is a Sports and Education Intrapreneur. She is the Program Director of School of Sports Studies under TransStadia Education and Research Foundation. She has worked with various companies and leagues as a Senior Programme Manager, Manager for Strategic Initiatives, etc. We were fortunate to discuss with her about the governance in sports, government’s vision towards sports and sports education.
“Physical Literacy, I think is, The Foundational Pillar. You cannot not have it but you cannot also not have one sector only look at it.”
During the discussion, it was seen how much of a difference choices can make, when you get to choose the sport of your interest, with the support of your family, friends and school. It’s got to be some form of a dictatorship. because the government schools will only follow what the government wants you to follow. Unless it comes from top there as an order to say that certain meals have to be taken care of, certain amounts of PE classes have to have some form of recreational sports, have to have some kind of movement. These classes are not meant for others to find or take-over.
“We will have to see through the maturity to say that now the government has been doing this much, what else can we do?”
